Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has held its annual patient event at Basildon’s Towngate Theatre.
Local people involved in Patient Participation Groups at their GP practices and members of the CCG’s locality Patient Engagement Groups were invited to meet the CCG executive team and hear about the plans for local health and care services over the next five years.
The event on 9 February 2017 also created a market style experience with a wide range of support organisations showcasing their services.
The CCG’s Accountable Officer John Leslie delivered an update on the work of the CCG. In November 2016 the CCG Board made a number of changes to its Service Policy (SRP) and Intermediate Care Services to put the local NHS on a more sustainable footing following a formal public consultation. Mr Leslie also addressed patients on the challenges that lie ahead and outlined the latest plans for the Mid and South Essex Success Regime.
The Mid and South Essex Success Regime is the region’s Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) which is being developed to sustain health services and improve care.
There were also presentations on:
• Out of Hospital Services and how care will be managed in the future for patients with acute ailments and those with complex and long term condition
• Self care and the key role people have in protecting their own health
• The work of the CCG’s Patient and Community Reference Group (PCRG)
Patients and representatives from the support organisations had the opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and take part in workshops
Alison Reeve, Lay Member and Chair of the CCG’s PCRG, said: “Our Annual Patient Event was a really good opportunity for patients to network, meet with CCG staff and hear about the work of the CCG and it’s future plans for local health services. There were also a number of workshops where patients were able to give their views and opinions to CCG staff on upcoming projects.
“I enjoyed meeting with our patient group members and listening to their comments first-hand. We’ve received some really positive feedback on the day and will take all of the comments into consideration when planning our next event.”
