A number of GP practices in the Basildon and Brentwood CCG area staged events to support Patient Participation Group Awareness Week from 6th-11th June 2016.

PPG Awareness Week is designed to promote the role and benefits of Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) to patients, the public and health professionals, and create more understanding of the value of true patient participation.

During the awareness week members of Pitsea's Dipple Medical Centre PPG were in the foyer of the medical centre to talk to patients about the benefits of being part of the patient group and encourage others to get involved. The event was featured in the Basildon Echo.

PPG groups in Billericay organised a Billericay Patient Participation and Wellbeing event with activities such as tai chi, yoga, cycling, walking, pilates and reflexology at various locations across Billericay. There were also advice sessions on diabetes and falls prevention.

In Brentwood, the Diabetes UK Brentwood Branch - which is represented on patient groups - attended the Strawberry Fair at Shenfield Common in Brentwood.
