Nurse and GP appointments now available after work and weekends

Patients registered at GP practices in the Basildon and Brentwood districts will be able to book GP or nurse appointments, via their own GP practice, in the evenings and weekends under a new healthcare scheme launching on Easter Sunday, April 1st.

Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has procured an Extended Hours Access Service to offer extra GP and nurse appointments, delivered from a number of Hub Clinics across the patch.

BBCCG Director of Out of Hospital Services William Guy said: “This is an example of how we are working to ensure patients continue to receive a high level of healthcare. This will deliver extra appointments after work and weekends for patients, alleviate some of the strain on local GP surgeries and help support patients in the community.”

The CCG has awarded the local Extended Access contract to two providers - BB Healthcare Solutions and Accountable Care Enterprise Limited.

BB Healthcare Solutions will cover GP practices in Basildon, Billericay and Wickford and offer extended access as follows:

  • 6.30pm-8pm Monday to Friday
  • 8am-6pm Saturdays
  • 9am-2pm Sundays

The appointments will be offered at Hub Clinics in Basildon, Billericay or Wickford on weekdays, and at Basildon and Wickford or Billericay at the weekends or on public holidays.

Accountable Care Enterprise Limited will provide the GP extended access service in Brentwood. The service will be located at Brambles Surgery, Greenwich Avenue, just off Geary Drive, Brentwood CM15 9DY at the following times:

  • 6.30pm-8pm Monday to Friday
  • 9am-3pm Saturday
  • 10am-2pm Sunday

All patients should contact their GP practice in the usual way to request an extended hours appointment.
