Staff from Basildon and Brentwood CCG are to don their wellies and grab a spade to celebrate national Volunteers’ Week.
As part of Volunteers' Week 1-12 June 2016, the CCG has teamed up with ‘Heart of Pitsea’ community gardens.
The 'Incredible Edible' project encourages members of the community to help out with local community gardens which grow vegetables for local people in need.
Volunteers from Basildon and Brentwood CCG will be spend a morning or afternoon out of the office helping out with gardening or giving out growing kits and leaflets to local people.
Basildon and Brentwood CCG values the immense contribution volunteers make to local communities. In Basildon, Billericay, Brentwood and Wickford people of all ages make a real difference to the lives of others by donating their to time to help with hundreds of projects ranging from improving the environment, spending time with those who may otherwise be lonely and contributing to the running of services.
There's good evidence that volunteering brings benefits to both the person volunteering and the people and organisations they support. Helping others can boost your mental and physical health as you make new friends and learn new skills.
