Mid and South Essex Success Regime: have your say on potential healthcare changes

The Mid and South Essex Success Regime is supporting one of the largest ever transformation programmes in local health and care.

It includes proposals to develop community services and rearrange some hospital services across hospital sites at Basildon, Chelmsford and Southend. Proposals are still in a discussion stage, with further details and public consultation later in 2016/17.

As part of the development of potential options for service changes, local people are invited to hear more and have a say at one of a series of open workshops across mid and south Essex.

The workshop will gather views on:

  • Your local services – how joined up GP, community, mental health and social care services could achieve more for patients by working together within a locality network
  • Live well – how new services and support could do more with an emphasis on prevention and early treatment
  • In hospital – how Basildon, Chelmsford and Southend hospitals could work better as a group, including one hospital designated a specialist emergency hospital for the most serious, life-threatening emergencies.

Dr Anita Donley OBE, independent chair of the Mid and South Essex Success Regime said: “Currently fragmented and over-reliant on hospital services, the way the health and care system works in mid and south Essex is unsustainable. The Mid and South Essex Success Regime is to turn this around by large-scale transformation, taking advantage of latest developments, new technology and best practice. We need views from all perspectives to make the right plans for better patient care in the future.”
