Blood test clinic at Wickford Health Centre

Basildon and Brentwood Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) would like to reassure patients the blood test clinic at Wickford Health Centre will be continuing.

The CCG is aware that Pathology First - which runs blood test services – has been given notice by NELFT NHS Foundation Trust that it will no longer be able to use the current facilities at the Wickford Health Centre for a blood test clinic from Tuesday 31 January 2017. This notice has now been extended to Thursday 9 February.

The CCG has been working hard to find alternative accommodation and has secured new rooms within Wickford Health Centre for the blood test clinic.

Patients can be reassured the blood test clinic at Wickford Health Centre will be continuing.

The CCG, together with Pathology First, are working with the Practice Manager of one of the practices at the health centre to finalise the details but the blood test clinic will offer the same service, though there may be different time slots.

Additional clinics are being put on in Billericay while details of the new arrangement are drawn up.

Blood testing times at St Andrew’s Centre, Billericay are being increased by two hours per day - from Monday 13 February the clinic will be open 7.10am-3pm, Monday to Friday.

It's so important for disabled, elderly etc. to be able to use facilities in Wickford. There is a community centre with lots of rooms, Robert Frew surgery on silva island Way and Franklins Way. Monday's are getting full for INR tests even though I should go on a Tuesday.

It is impossible for some of us to go to out of area clinics, they have time constraints for people who are carers, like myself.
