Transforming health and care outcomes for people with mental health needs
Today - 16 October 2014 - we have released a discussion document on our plans to secure better mental health services for the people of Basildon and Brentwood.
The discussion paper, "Better mental health services for the people of Basildon and Brentwood", has been drawn up in response to the findings of the Healthwatch Essex 555 report (click here for the report) into the lived experience of mental health users in the area.
Actions already taken include the provision of 24/7 psychiatric cover within the A&E department at Basildon Hospital and new enhanced training for NHS professionals working with people who have mental health conditions. However, we recognise within the paper that a radical shift is required to deliver more holistic care to local people and sets out our plans to introduce a single care plan across health and social care services with the aim of securing better outcomes for, and with, local people.
