Need medical help over the Bank Holiday but it’s not an emergency – Call 112

Local NHS leaders are reminding people of NHS services available on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

NHS 111 is available for help and advice, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Simply call 111 from your landline or mobile to access this free service. 

You can also visit www.GetWellEssex.com to help you find the most appropriate service. You can simply enter your postcode and then choose from a list of symptoms to find the right local service for you.

If you need medical help quickly and your usual GP surgery is closed, but it’s not an emergency, you can go to your nearest walk in centre which is open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, every day of the year, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Dr Adenike Popoola, GP and Unplanned Care Lead for NHS Southend CCG said:

“We are urging people to use the most appropriate NHS services for them this winter, particularly over the bank holiday period. If you become ill over the bank holiday period, please remember that if it isn’t an emergency, you can call 111 or visit www.GetWellEssex.com for help and advice.”
