Accessibility statement for the Basildon and Brentwood CCG website

This accessibility statement applies to the Basildon and Brentwood CCG website.

This website is run by Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Compliance status

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Disproportionate Burden

While we are still in a level 3 incident management response, we are at full capacity ensuring the health and care system and our patients are supported to access health and care safely to manage any communications on local outbreaks. We will work to improve our accessibility and meet the standards as set out over the coming months. A plan has been put in place to tackle CCG websites in Mid and South Essex one category at a time.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents. Please see our action plan below on how we plan to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML pages.

Within the next 3-months

• Training will be offered to our staff on the accessibility regulations and how to produce accessible content for the web.
• All images on our websites will include alt text descriptions to help screen-reading tools describe images to visually impaired readers.

Within the next 6-9 months

  • We will ensure that any PDF or word documents published on the website between September 2018 and September 2020 meets the accessibility standards.

Any new PDFs or Word Documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
