Hop along to a pharmacy first this Easter

We'd like to remind all our residents and visitors where they can get expert medical treatment and access pharmacy services during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Patients are advised to visit their pharmacist first for quick, confidential advice on a range of common illnesses. Pharmacists are fully qualified to advise you on the best course of action if you start to feel unwell. Many common minor injuries can be treated at home by self-care.

As GP surgeries will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, patients should make sure they have enough of their prescription medicines to cover the holiday period.

Did you know that you can now book a GP or nurse appointment in the evening, at the weekend or on a bank holiday? The service is run from a number of Hub Clinics across the Basildon and Brentwood.

All patients should contact their GP practice in the usual way to request an extended hours appointment or if it is out-of-hours, call 111.

Please remember extended hours appointments are only available for those who pre-book with non-urgent health problems. It is not a walk-in service.

If you think you need medical help right now, call NHS 111 to get the right medical attention urgently. Fully trained advisors are available 24 hours a day and can put you through to healthcare professionals.

If you are worried and think your situation is life threatening or an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 999.
