Community pharmacists are experts in the use of medicines and can clinically check, prepare and dispense prescription medicines for you. They offer professional healthcare support and can advise you on the safe use of prescription and over-the-counter medicines for common min or ailments. Other health services pharmacists offer can include flu vaccinations, emergency contraception, stop smoking services, Chlamydia screening and treatment and weight management. You do not need an appointment to see your local pharmacist and most have a private consultation room.
There are clinical pharmacists in some GP practices. They work as part of the team to support GPs and nurses. Clinical pharmacists can consult with and treat patients directly.
